High School Shadow Day
On Shadow Day, high school students come to UCI to learn more about engineering, and familiarize themselves with the UCI campus and its academic curriculum. They will be touring the campus in a fun-filled journey, after which they will be shown a demonstration from Mat Sci and attend a question and answer session with highly-qualified engineer candidates. The students will then be participating in an activity which requires them to use creativity and engineering knowledge to create a plane from minimal supplies. Finally, at the end of the day, they will be provided with food from the ASME BBQ. Shadow Day will enlighten the students in an exciting way, showing them different aspects of engineering and how it relates to our everyday lives. It will provide the students with information about the various types of engineers today and background information on those individual engineering careers. Shadow Day will help the students see engineering in a more fun and exciting way, and that engineers, too, can have fun. More info coming soon!
